Just recently purchased the Believe CD from Amazon.com in USA, received the CD today but found out it was manufactured in Malaysia? Can anyone tell me if the same album CD purchased in UK was also manufactured in Malaysia, too?

We are a group of Hi-Fi lovers from Taiwan, and we've been following Katherin's former releases since her first album"Premier", and besides Katherin's heavenly voice, we did find the superior recording quality in each album we got. We pre-ordered several copies of the 'Believe' album from Amazon.com, after we received the CDs, we were so surprised to see the CD was actually manufactured in Malaysia not UK nor USA. No offense to people in Malaysia, but from our past experiences, we found the same CD manufactured in different countries will sound differently. Especially CD not made from the countries where it was recorded.
So I am here sincerely asking for help from all friends in UK, can you please take a look at the back cover of your "Believe" CD, and let me know if the CD you purchased in UK also manufactured in Malaysia? We don't mind to purchase more copies if there are some manufactured in UK. Thanks in advance!

Just want to keep all updated on the different version of 'Believe' CD I purchased.

Today, I received the 'Diamond Club edition of "Believe" CD, it says very clearly 'Made in EU' on the printed cover, and I can't wait to put the CD to my McIntosh system and listen to it and tell you what, the sound quality is apparently much superior than the 'Made in Malaysia' version. The sound of the 'Made in EU' version is so crystal-clear, and the focus of Katherine's vocal and all background instrument are so vividly in place, when you close your eyes, you can almost feel Katherine standing right in front of you singing and all instruments are behind her back. However, the "Made in Malaysia" version I purchased via Amazon.com of USA sounds much terrible, vocal and instruments are totally mixed up, I would say a 20% downgrade in sound quality than the EU version, you can hardly tell their positions from each others, the sound feels like it's coming from another stereo inside your speakers.

As a fan, I am so glad that I finally received a 'true' and 'clear' version of the 'Believe' album, but I am also mad at the record company, why can't they even control the sound quality of the same CD if they've decided to have the CD made elsewhere for those countries outside of EU.

My advise to all who care about the sound quality of your CD, buy the 'Made in EU' version!

Both of my 'Believe' CDs, both the standard one and the Diamon Club one say 'Made in the EU' on the back of them.

I don't know how anyone buying the CD can ensure that it is made in the EU though. I have purchased a lot of CD's online from CDWOW! and they usually ship from Hong Kong. I would hazard a guess that a lot of their CD's may well have been made outside of the EU but I can't say I have noticed poor sound quality on any that I've purchased but maybe I've just been lucky. Mind you I know a few audiophiles who simply listen for faults with the recording rather than just listening to the music - I'm not for one minute implying that this is the case here of course

I totally agree that Warners should ensure that any recording made by one of their artistes should be of the same quality wherever it is purchased, be it here in the UK or in Malaysia. Sounds like a lack of quality control to me as I would think that the master tapes, or whatever they use nowadays, would be of the same quality both musically and physically irrespective of where the CD is produced.

Let's hope Warners read this post and take note...

Regards,

Graham
