Hi Everyone,

I have just arrived back from a 10 day holiday Gold del Sur, Tenerife in the Canary Islands. I had a fantastic time, although as neither myself or my friend can drive, we couldn't really explore other areas of the Island.

We went partly for the good weather and partly for the World Cup, although apart from the last four days it was actually cloudy!

Sadly, it seems the Island has been hit hard by the recession, a lot of hotels have been shut down and it was very quiet. Still had a good time though.

Thanks for posting your pictures Dazza, a nice selection. Sad to hear that the financial downturn has hit the holiday trade so hard there.

I've never been to Tenerife, but the coastline looks brilliant.

Looks like you had a good holiday though! Smile

......Apart from watching our lot trying to kick a football around maybe!! w00t

Great photos Dazza, looks like you have had a great time. Shame those numptys that are our so called football team, couldn't put on a better show. The only positive, is at least we are not as shambolic as France! BigGrin

Hi dazza,

Glad you had a good time in Tenerife, like the pics. I've been there a number of times and always enjoy returning but tend to avoid the south, normally I stay in Los Gigantes.

Did you manage to drag yourself away from the bars and the footie? I always try and do the cable car ride up Mt Teide, some really spectacular views on a nice clear day. Cool

Hi Graham,

Would have loved to have gone up Teide, especially when it was clear, but as neither myself or my friend could drive and excursions from the local tourist office were rather pricey, we were limited about where we could go.

To be honest, if it wasn't for the football I would have probably been bored, it is a nice place though and I would visit Tenerife again, i would like to visit other areas.
