Many thanks to one and all for their reports and photographs from Cheltenham.  I have to agree with Sir Gary here, it was a splendid venue for a concert the views over the rolling countryside were really rather good.  Once again Katherine was on fine form, as this was my first concert of the summer I am afraid I cannot offer any comment on the AI v SS conductor debate.  The only thing I would say, is that in my opinion AI always does a very good job indeed with the NSO and obviously has a very good rapprt with KJ.

Good to see many forum friends old and new out in force.

It was a most enjoyable end to the evening to join Sir P, JP and K3M for a quick snifter or two back at the Holiday Inn, thank you all for your company!

Many thanks also to Sir Gary for doing the driving and such an excellent door to door service, much appreciated my friend!

K3M - I have an answer, as to why Katherine was looking sad in that picture taken by Sir Gary.  News had just reached her, that Sir P was not going to be in attendance at Llangollen!

All the best
Graham

Hi Gary,

Thank you for your report and fab photos.

Although I agree wholeheartedly with your comment; An orchestra does require a good, experienced conductor to bring the best out of it.., I am finding it hard to come to terms with the fact that you have let me down when I needed you most.
You clearly love Sir Philip more than me...... and I am not sure I will get over that EVER...

Dame Juliekins x (you only get lower case kisses from now on sorry!)....

Thanks to all for posting such great pictures and full accounts of events at Cheltenham, there is little that I can add to it , but have to say that it was a super concert .

Having arrived at the back of a very long queue to get into the venue, it was a huge relief to see Gary and Graham & co , having saved some space for three oldies but goodies, who had not been keen to race to the front of the queue as at previous events.

Thanks to Gary for sharing his banner , it wouldn't have been the same without my half.

Thanks to Sir P for allowing us all to see his flag -waving skills , he was most vigourous ,alarmingly so at times, I do recall moving my chair ever so slightly away from him when he peaked .

Thanks to John and to Charlie for being part of a great event , and to all forum friends old and new.

To anyone who saw me hug a pal whilst spilling a bottle of orange juice down his back, well you may be grateful that you were not the recipient of that particular hug

Katherine performed well, some of my favourite songs were there , but it does leave me wondering what direction she will now take , and whether I will follow in that direction.Time will tell.

The dedications seem a bit staged now, she read out some obviously new ones, and some oldies that have been repeated at many previous events.

This is a shame , as I knew quite a few people (including me ) who had asked questions / submitted dedications who were missed out . There had to be a limit of course , but it does then seem a shame to keep going over old ground.

Anyway , a brilliant time was had by all at this event , and it is great to see so many reports.I am pleased that seemingly people took more time to watch the performance , and less camera clicking time , a nice balance in my opinion.

The meet and greet cancellation was confusing , I spoke to someone who had not had the cancellation email, and belived that they still had a M&G , a real confusion and disappointment there .

Whilst I am heartily pleased that Sir Garykins does not love me I am a little saddened by the craven submission on show. Call yourself a Knight! Huh!

Hi All. thanks for showing those excellent photos and reports. I must say i didnt go to Cheltenham but i did go to Hylands Park and in reply to the banter about Anthony Inglis etc.when i saw he was conducting especially the proms part i thought this is going be good i was wrong it wasnt good it was brilliant, there was good humour, excellent orchestra and conducting and above all Katherine made it a night to remember with her wonderful singing.Just a quick question for Katherine, cant  you do a cd with your version of the proms on it       Best wishes  Brian

Hi Sir Gary,

Well....you know I'm only playin' don't you??????.........
However, the thought that you may have upset me brought on some excellent grovelling which may have paid off...you may not be be-headed...for the moment!!! You may return to the Forum Round Table now....
Joking apart, I would hope you would be honest in your opinion in our debate, I would be disappointed if you weren't, but don't egg Sir P on quite so much, he goes really doolally (hadn't you noticed????)...

Dame J X (Upper case, but only one mind! )

Hi Sir Philip,

Ha ha ha ha ha.....Dame trumps Knight of the Forum... Yeehah....he chickened out!!!!!
Being serious for one nanosecond, what do you think the chances of Cheltenham featuring in next year's Summer Concert venues is?

Dame J X (Upper case, but not sure you earnt it i'm just feeling reckless today!!!)

Love from
