| Hello All, Not exactly a forum newbie anymore, but I didn't introduce myself when I became a member. My name is Scott and I live in northern California, USA. Katherine has one of the most amazing voices I've every heard. She is very talented. I think this forum is one of the best ideas a performer has ever come up with. I hope meet other fans of Katherine and look forward to reading all the comments the fans have posted on the board. Take Care, Scott

I didn't realize this was here either. Here I am, almost 4 months into my membership, and I haven't formally introduced myself, although several members have made me feel right at home.
My name is Bernie, and the C at the end of my username stands for my life-long city of residence, Chicago. If you follow Katherine on Twitter, you may have seen my posts under the name BernieChicago. I've been very happily married for over 35 years, with two sons, two remarkably intelligent and beautiful granddaughters, and my first grandson due in March. I had no idea who Katherine was, had never heard of her, until her guest appearance on The Graham Norton Show, which is broadcast here on BBC America, earlier this year. My moment of revelation came when Graham had Katherine sing over the Internet a few notes to a dog trained to sing along with her voice. The clarity, beauty, and tone of her notes shook me to my soul. Given the situation, there was obviously no way that could have been faked or electronically enhanced. My taste in music rests primarily in the swing era from the mid 30's to the mid 50's. With some notable exceptions, this is what I enjoy the most. Most of the artists I enjoy are either long dead (Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Mario Lanza, etc.) or mostly retired (Abba in general, Frida in particular). The last artist I followed passionately while having an active career was Frank Sinatra back in the 60's. I absolutely detest so-called singers who need electronic tricks to come out sounding right. I turned to YouTube to find more of Katherine's performances to see if she sang an entire song as well as those few notes, and, of course, I wasn't disappointed. I had not heard a voice of such beauty in many, many years. I was so taken, that I bought every CD and DVD I could find on this side of the Atlantic, and I haven't heard or saw a single song that disappointed me. Then, I found this website, and, luckily, just in time to find out about Katherine's US tour and visit to Chicago. I immediately bought the max six tickets for her House of Blues appearance, and eagerly awaited the moment when I and my family could see her perform. I was as giddy with anticipation of the show as Scrooge when he awoke Christmas morning. My review of the show is elsewhere in this forum, but seeing Katherine perform live invoked the same feelings of awe and wonderment when I first saw the Grand Canyon. No picture or recording can truly capture the beauty, grandeur, and sheer enjoyment of that moment. My son's friend had to talk me into lining up to meet her, as I have never been one to enjoy the cult of celebrity that surrounds many performers. However, meeting such a sweet, gracious person who, by every right should have been asleep on her feet, is a moment I will always cherish. I felt then as I feel now that I didn't need a photo or autograph to mark the occasion. I will never forget it. Given the relative differences in our ages, I feel safe in assuming that I will be able to spend the rest of my days enjoying this remarkable talent. I don't know if Katherine will ever perform again in Chicago, but I do know that I will see her perform live again, even if I have to travel halfway around the world to do it.

To me, he's the male version of what Katherine is trying to become here in the States. I have a feeling, though, that she'll end up better than he did.
