I'm afraid not, Bernie! Look at it this way: The man looking at the picture has no brothers or sisters, so he's an only son; therefore "my father's son" must be "me". "This man's father, is my father's son"; in other words......."This man's father, is me"; hence, he must be looking at a picture of his own son! That's how I see it, anyway!

Philip is correct, the way you have worded it means you will always get -5 as the answer!
eg, take 10, double it = 20, add ten = 30, divide by 2 = 15, subtract from the number you first thought of means subtract 15 from 10 = -5
However, if you had said " subtract the number you first thought of" then yes the answer is 5
